3D printing `impossible` art

Sculptor Rinus Roelofs and 3Dealise are cooperating to create "impossible" art

Rinus Roelofs sometimes calls himself a 'digital sculptor' - he creates sculptures on a computer. Some of his creative ideas cannot be produced with traditional methods - his ideas can only be realised through 3D printing. Rinus has been using 3D plastic printing for some time, but plastic is not a good material for applications such as outside sculptures.

Rinus and 3Dealise are now cooperating to create cast iron expressions of his art. 3Dealise will use its large format (1800 x 1000 x 700 mm) 3D sand printer to generate a casting mould. Sanders Castings will then cast the sculptures.
